Privacy Policy

Deckhand collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, and no servers operated by us. Nothing you do in the app is sent anywhere except to the machines you yourself configure it to connect to.

What stays on your device

• Your SSH private key. Generated on the device, stored in the iOS Keychain behind Face ID or Touch ID, and never transmitted or backed up. Re-enrolling a face or fingerprint destroys it, by design.
• Saved host passwords. Stored in the Keychain on the device that saved them. They do not sync to your other devices.
• Known host keys for the servers you have accepted.

What syncs through your own iCloud

If you are signed in to iCloud, your list of hosts syncs between your own devices using Apple's key-value storage, inside your personal iCloud account. We have no access to it. The synced fields are:

• display name, hostname, port, username
• authentication mode (key or password)
• the startup command you set for that host

Credentials are never part of this. Neither the SSH private key nor any saved password leaves the device it was created on. Note that a startup command is synced verbatim, so avoid putting anything sensitive in one.

Where your data goes

Deckhand opens an SSH connection to the hosts you add and nowhere else. Everything you type and everything the host sends back travels over that encrypted connection, directly between your device and your machine. It does not pass through any service of ours, because there is none.

Notifications

Notifications are generated on your device from data read over your own SSH connection. They are not push notifications; no remote server sends them and no third party sees them.

Children

Deckhand is a developer tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
